Establishment of Regional Offices
Two regions have been ear-marked for establishment of regional
offices, namely at Kurunagala and Tangalle, with a view to
expand the services and activities of the Coconut Development
Authority
Kurunegala Office - opening on the 23rd of September 2006
Establishment of Sales Centres
Establishment of sales centres - Head Office,
Narahenpita and Gampola
Objectives of Securing local and international market for
coconut products of small scale manufacturers, By exhibiting
coconut products, promoting international marketing, and popularizing
usage of coconut products in the local market.
Technical Training Programme for Young Entrepreneurs
A programme similar to that which was concluded successfully
at Kuliyapitiya will be inaugurated at Beliatta Technical
College in Southern Sri Lanka, with a view to provide
technical training for young entrepreneurs to emerge.
Waharakgoda Coir Industry Project - 19th November,
2006
A fibre based product manufacturing
project similar to those at Dambadeniya (Dalikanuanga)
and Kurunegala (Nelliya) district was ceremoniously
opened by Hon. Salinda Dissanayake, Minister of Coconut
Development at Matara district on 19th November 2006,
which will provide a fair number of employment opportunities
to the people in the area.
Coir Research Development and Training Centre
The Coir Council International (CCI), in partnership with
the Coconut Development Authority (CDA), is in the process
of setting up a centre dedicated to Coir Research Development
and Training in the coconut Triangle. Construction of the
Centre will be on a Coconut estate in Dunkannawa, owned
by the CDA.
